Engineering, fabrication & job shop management

Pitwall OS Workshop

From quote to finished part, on one connected workshop system

Workshop is built for independent engineering businesses — machine shops, fabricators, welding and sheet metal companies, toolmakers, prototype and motorsport engineering workshops. It gives you the control normally associated with a large manufacturing system while staying usable by the person standing next to the machine.

An RFQ becomes an estimate built from real production history. An accepted order becomes a job with a locked drawing revision, a bill of materials, routing and a digital job traveller. Operators advance the traveller operation by operation on a shop floor terminal, capturing actual labour and machine time as they go.

When the job ships you see quoted against actual — material, machining, labour, external processing and consumables — with the operation-level variance that makes the next quote sharper. Every finished job builds the workshop's institutional memory.

What it adds

  • Job records with operations, routing and digital job travellers
  • Shop floor mode with operator time capture and problem reporting
  • Estimating with work centre rates, then quoted vs actual variance
  • Parts library with controlled drawing revisions and BOMs
  • Materials, stock, offcuts, batch and heat traceability
  • Purchasing, suppliers and external processing (anodising, plating, heat treatment)
  • Machine board, capacity planning and bottleneck detection
  • Inspection plans, first-off release, NCRs, rework and scrap
  • Tooling, fixtures, measuring equipment and calibration status
  • Maintenance plus PUWER, LOLER, LEV and COSHH records
  • Dispatch with delivery notes, CoC and job completion packs
  • QR labels for jobs, machines, fixtures, tools and material batches

How it runs

01

Quote

Estimate material, operations, work centre rates, external processing and margin — using actual times from the last time you made the part.

02

Release

The customer PO creates a job with the drawing revision locked, BOM, routing and material requirements checked against stock.

03

Make

Schedule the machine board, run shop floor mode, capture time, raise problems, inspect first-off and manage external processes.

04

Close

Dispatch with delivery note, CoC and job pack, then read quoted vs actual cost, margin and operation variance.

Case studies

Each of these is a live demo workspace you can sign into. The companies are fictional, created to show how Pitwall OS Workshop works in a real operation.

Ironvale Precision & Fabrication Ltd · Precision engineering and fabrication

Quotes built from the last time they made the part

A subcontract machine shop and fabricator was estimating from memory, chasing jobs on a whiteboard, and only discovering a job had lost money once the invoice went out.

What they use in Workshop

  • Estimates from material, operations and work centre rates
  • Jobs with locked drawing revisions, BOM and routing
  • Digital job travellers advanced in shop floor mode
  • First-off inspection, external processing and CoC job packs
  • Quoted vs actual cost with operation-level variance

Outcome

Every finished job feeds the next estimate, the machine board shows real capacity, and margin is known at dispatch rather than at month end.
